Hongqiao airport drop-off: check-in deadlines are not arrival targets
Scope
Evergreen planning advice for journeys from Shanghai or nearby cities to Hongqiao. This is not a live flight bulletin and does not establish rules for Pudong or other airports.
Read the date and scope
A Shanghai government notice dated 27 June 2026 describes revised Hongqiao domestic check-in deadlines from 29 June, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan services. It says airline announcements take precedence. This background notice does not verify the deadline for an individual flight today.
Allow time after drop-off
A check-in deadline is the end of check-in and baggage acceptance, not a target for reaching the curb. Allow for walking, queues and security. Ask the operating airline when to arrive, considering checked bags, children and assistance needs.
Work backwards
Start with the airline-recommended arrival time, then allow for driving, passenger pickups, loading and traffic variation. Intercity trips also need breaks. Avoid adding several sightseeing stops before a flight; no fixed driving time or guaranteed connection is promised.
Send a complete request
Provide the date, flight, airport, terminal, exact hotel address, passenger and bag counts, and special needs. Reconfirm pickup time, location and contact details with the assigned driver; report changes promptly.
Verification time
