Before the October 8 ferry timetable change: booking pier transfers
The new plan has not started today
Shanghai’s ferry operator announced on September 22 that its winter high-speed passenger-boat plan applies from October 8, 2026 to February 28, 2027. Today is October 5; do not use the new plan for today’s transfer. It covers routes including Nanmen–Baoyang. Other services remain unchanged for now, and actual operation needs confirmation.
Check both directions
Editorial advice: a holiday departure and a return after October 8 may use different plans. Give the route, departure pier, arrival pier and date, rather than simply saying a Chongming pier. Different piers may serve the same wider destination.
Docking is not meeting the driver
Allow time to disembark, gather luggage, leave the pier and contact the driver. Groups should nominate one contact and gather everyone before updating the pickup. Confirm a permitted vehicle meeting point; access inside the terminal is not assumed.
Allow flexibility before a flight
For an onward airport transfer, separately check airline formalities and road-travel allowance. Consider another sailing or accommodation if the connection is tight. A published sailing is not an airport-arrival guarantee. This article does not predict weather or cancellations.
Confirm changes with each provider
Check actual sailings with the ferry operator before discussing waiting, changes or a road alternative with the car team. The notice lists 69693666 for daily operation enquiries. A charter does not automatically include boat tickets or vehicle carriage on a high-speed passenger boat.
