National Day river crossings: plan around the Dongjin ferry suspension

Which route is affected
A city ferry notice republished by Shanghai government and dated September 15 states that Dongjin service ends from noon daily on October 1–7, 2026, with normal service resuming October 8. This is a Dongjin announcement, not a suspension of every Huangpu River ferry.
Check the alternative
The notice names Dongfu as an alternative. Editorial advice: recheck the actual pier, operating arrangements and walking route. A different ferry may use a different pier; do not infer other routes’ last departures from this notice.
Agree the riverbank first
Groups returning to Suzhou, Wuxi or Xitang should state whether they are in Puxi or Pudong before arranging pickup. Avoid leaving a vehicle waiting across the river while passengers intend to use a suspended route. Reconfirm with the driver before changing banks.
Allow for the whole connection
Walking between piers, queues, leaving the pier and reaching the car all take time. With luggage or children, reduce last-minute changes and gather the group before updating the driver. A predicted ferry arrival is not a guaranteed immediate vehicle connection.
Reconfirm a road crossing
If collecting the group on its current bank instead, ask the service team to check controls, route, service hours and cost. No bridge or tunnel is promised clear and no fixed return time is guaranteed; follow actual operations and traffic management.
