Hongqiao to Pudong: confirm baggage arrangements before your transfer

China Eastern stated on March 18, 2026 that the Hongqiao Airport Link counter and air-rail transfer centre stop accepting baggage for Pudong departures after 21:30 daily. This is an evergreen planning article, not a new rule today. That time is not a flight check-in deadline or a universal counter closing time.
Confirm the baggage handover
Editorial advice: ask the operating airline whether your flight qualifies, whether baggage has been accepted and whether you must complete further steps at Pudong. A boarding pass alone does not establish that baggage handling is complete; check the baggage receipt and final destination.
Specify the pickup address
Hongqiao Airport, Hongqiao Railway Station and a transfer centre are different meeting points. Send the exact location, level or exit and bag count. Reconfirm with the driver before moving to a different counter or exit. Keep the group together.
Allow time for each stage
Separate counter processing, baggage collection, walking to the driver, road travel and onward airport formalities. If queues delay you, notify the driver and ask the airline whether the connection remains feasible. No minimum transfer time is guaranteed here.
